My Teaching Philosophy
It is not your instrument that produces sound,
rather it is you yourself.
Often, sound production is the result of many partially
awkward patterns of movement
rather than a single coordinated action.
Therefore, it is of primary importance to be always aware
of ones physical and mental attitude while playing.
I will actively accompany you in this process,
and use the sounds that you create as a point of departure.
Along with my professional experience as a musician,
I use the teachings of Frederick Matthias Alexander (1869-1955)
as the basis for my analysis.
Using his principles,it is possible to recognise and break through
negative automations
that have developed over years.
An efficient coordination of head, neck and back
is the foundation of free movement.
